A TAXI firm in Barnsley is attempting to raise money for the hospice by taking part in its accumulator challenge.

City Taxis chose Barnsley Hospice and their charity of 2023 earlier this year, and they will take part in the accumulator challenge alongside 17 other firms.

The aim is to raise as much money as possible for the charity, using a £31 seed fund provided by Barnsley Hospice’s very own ‘Lord Sweetener’.

Over the past five years, the annual event has raised nearly £70,000.

Simon Atkinson, corporate partnerships manager and ‘Lord Sweetener’ of Barnsley Hospice, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to the team at City Taxis for taking part in our Accumulator Challenge.

“We have heard about their exciting plans for the month and appreciate the efforts they have gone to support us in this way.

“It’s great that people can travel across the borough this month and support the hospice at the same time.”

Sacha Skinner, marketing manager of City Taxis, added: “When Simon told us that the hospice was bringing back their Accumulator Challenge for 2023, we jumped at the chance to be involved.

“We’re always looking at new ways to support our local charities, and even better when there’s a friendly challenge involved.”
