A BRASS band will host an open rehearsal session next week.
The Yorkshire Military Band, based in Barnsley, is one of just a handful of civilian military bands in the UK.
An open evening will be held tomorrow (Monday) from 7pm to scout players of brass, woodwind and percussion – over the age of 15 – to come and have a no-obligation rehearsal with the band.
Another rehearsal session occurs before the main one, which will see the Corps of Drums section also recruit.
Anyone from the age of 15 with or without experience of playing the drum is invited to come along and learn some routines with members.
Director of music Louise Lingard-Snape said: “The band has a junior academy which meets from 6pm until 6.45pm at the same place and this is for anyone aged eight to 15 who wants to learn brass, woodwind or percussion.
“Free tuition and free instruments are available from professional musicians.”
The events will take place at the band’s headquarters at 16 Doncaster Road. Contact 07903 553 496 for more details.
