MATERNITY services have revealed their busiest days in August saw ten per cent of the total babies born throughout the month.

On both August 6 and August 24, 13 babies were born.

Across the whole month, 258 mothers gave birth with the assistance of Barnsley Hospital staff.

There were 139 boys and 125 girls.

There was one planned home birth, and ten water births, with six sets of twins delivered.

The heaviest baby was ten pounds and six ounces and the smallest was two pounds and four ounces.
