ALMOST 13 per cent of people taking a coronavirus test in Barnsley are receiving a positive result.
At the end of July, the most recent figures, a total of 12.6 per cent out of 7,763 people who took a PCR test – where the swab has to be sent to a lab – received a positive test.
This is lower than last month's peak which saw 19.9 per cent of tests coming back positive.
More than 500,000 rapid lateral flow tests - which give results in less than an hour without needing to go to a lab - have been taken in Barnsley since the start of the pandemic.
Around 70,000 of those were conducted last month.
