A PHARMACY in the town centre now offers the coronavirus vaccine as part of its roll-out across the borough.

Superdrug, on Cheapside, will distribute jabs from the store with more pharmacies to follow in the next few weeks across Barnsley.

The pharmacy will come up as an option when a person books their Covid-19 vaccination through the national booking system or when calling 119.

Kirsten Major, chief executive for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The Covid-19 vaccine programme in South Yorkshire has been hugely successful so far, with more than a million first and second doses already given.

“We want to ensure this success continues, and so we are delighted that a local pharmacy is now on board as this will provide another option for people to get their vaccination.

“We urge anyone aged 40 or over to book their first dose of the vaccine as soon as they are able.

“It’s also important that you come back for your second dose of the vaccine to ensure you get full protection.”
