A BRIDGE will reopen in Goldthorpe after campaigns were led by local councillors and MPs.

Straight Lane in Goldthorpe will reopen next month – something Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healy said will make it easier for residents to travel through Goldthorpe.

He said: “This is the result of a lot of pressure from councillors May Noble and Charlotte Johnson and local Labour Party members like Deborah Coates.

“It has also come after I brought together the council and Network Rail and got them to agree on an action plan. Crucially, this secured Network Rail's agreement to do a new strength test and help fund reinforcement work if needed.

“I know the bridge closure has been frustrating for so many people, and I hope this will make it easier to get around.”
