THE ‘rusty comb’ monument will remain outside Barnsley Town Hall for at least another two years.
This follows successful negotiations between the council and Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
The statue, which is officially called Crossing (Vertical), was first placed outside the building in 2013 to coincide with the opening of Experience Barnsley Museum.
The loan was recently extended until September 2026.
A council spokesperson said: “Crossing (Vertical) by Nigel Hall is on a free loan to Barnsley Council from Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
“The piece was installed to coincide with the opening of the award-winning Experience Barnsley Museum and redevelopment of the outside area of the town hall in 2013.
“Nigel is an internationally-renowned artist whose work is displayed around the world.
“The work was chosen to complement the style of the area and to bring high quality public art to the town.
“Public art adds interest and vibrancy, improving public spaces.”
