BARNSLEY police officers have pocketed £4m in overtime in the last five years, a Freedom of Information request revealed.
The figures – which compare 2019/20 to 2023/24 and the financial years in between – show it peaked in 2022/23 when £1,076,878 was claimed.
Last year, £760,105 was paid to staff completing overtime on top of their usual contracts.
All of the top ten claiming officers were male, the FOI also revealed.
