PLANNING permission is being submitted to demolish the former family centre in Stairfoot before it’s replaced by a new SEND unit.

The modular unit, based on the grounds of Hunningley Lane Primary School, has fallen into ‘disrepair’ according to the report.

If the plans are approved, the unit will be removed in sections and taken away by skips that are kept on-site.

It will then be replaced by a new centre which will provide a much-needed education setting for youngsters with special needs aged between five and eight.

It’s hoped the new centre will be open in the autumn.

The 15 additional places will be created for children who have been diagnosed with SEND communication issues as well as autism or social, emotional and mental health needs.

The public can have their say on the plans until June 3.
