SOUTH Yorkshire Police officers are taking part in a national week of action as part of ongoing efforts to tackle knife crime.

Known as Sceptre, the week was launched yesterday and runs until Sunday and will highlight the work officers do every day to combat knife crime offences, showing the methods used to get dangerous individuals off the streets.

A police spokesperson said: “In South Yorkshire, we see directly the utter devastation caused by knife crime and the pain grieving friends and families go through when they lose a loved one to an incident involving a knife.”
