A HUGE homeware company is setting up a distribution hub in Barnsley after signing a ten-year lease.
Dunelm have signed the lease for a 20,400sq ft warehouse at Gateway 36, near Hoyland.
It’s hoped the new warehouse will help support its home delivery service.
However, Coun David White is not supportive of the plans.
He said: “It’s needless to say this will bring additional traffic to the already chaotic Birdwell Roundabout. At least equally importantly in my view, many residents have expressed concerns about pedestrians walking the sides and centre of the Dearne Valley Parkway, as public transport is not equipped to get these people to work.
“We have all seen the bus loads of EVRI shift workers coming into the area daily.
“Let’s see how big Dunelm’s plans are for Hoyland.”
