A MONK Bretton schoolgirl has been named Little Miss South Yorkshire – and she’s now gearing up to represent the county in the national final in Blackpool later this year.

October’s Little Miss Great Britain final will be ten-year-old Scarlett Maskill’s first pageant – but she’s hoping to take home the crown and make Barnsley proud.

The youngster is also set to raise cash for her chosen charity Together For Short Lives – an organisation which supports youngsters with life-threatening illnesses – through a variety of ways.

She’s gearing to walk up Ben Nevis in Scotland with a number of her friends and family, whilst also hosting bake sales and raffles.

Scarlett has also decided she will be donating her Easter eggs this year to children in hospital or local children’s homes.

Her mum, Chantelle, said: “She’s so excited for October in Blackpool but she’s also quite nervous. This will be the first pageant she’s competed in.

“She’s currently raising money for the chosen charity Together For Short Lives and will be taking the hike up Ben Nevis at the end of April with her family and friends. She’s hoping to raise as much money for the charity to help as many families as possible. We’re all so proud of her.”
