THE charitable foundation of a local property company has donated around £15,000 to youngsters.
Launching in 2014, the Dransfield Foundation – from Stocksbridge-based Dransfield Properties – has spent the past decade working with South Hiendley-based Exodus Project to support local children.
The 24-year-old charity approached the foundation back when they had just started, requesting help to deliver activities and events, and over the course of the decade has received around £15,000 in support.
Martin Sawdon MBE, of the Exodus Project, said: “It is over ten years now that the Dransfield Foundation has stood with the children and young people of Barnsley and supported us and we are really grateful that the trustees and staff have got alongside us.
“The funds donated help us to put on some great activities including dance, drama, sports and games and makes such a big difference.
“Without the support of organisations like the Dransfield Foundation we wouldn’t be able to offer the range of activities we do in some of our region’s most disadvantaged areas.”
The Exodus Project was recently awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service – the charity has around 80 volunteers working across clubs, shops, weekend camps and fundraising.
To mark this decade-long relationship, the foundation is donating another £1,600 to the charity.
Managing director of Dransfield Properties and trustee of the Dransfield Foundation, James Shepherd, added: “We are delighted to be continuing our relationship with the Exodus Project and to have been able to make donations across the last ten years which have made such a difference to young people.”
