A SUSPECTED loan shark who is also accused of kidnap and wounding will appear at Sheffield Crown Court next month.
Richard Dawson, of Hill End Close, Barnsley, allegedly oversaw an illegal money lending ring in the town between October 2020 and February this year.
The charges follow an investigation by the Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT), who worked in partnership with Barnsley Trading Standards.
The 35-year-old was also charged with taking a male victim against his will by force and maliciously wounding the same person, as well as assaulting a female in a separate actual body harm case.
Dawson was remanded in custody following an appearance at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court and will next appear in Sheffield on March 20.
