A MAN has been arrested and charged with eight shoplifting offences after being apprehended by police this morning.

Officers from Barnsley Neighbourhood Policing Team spotted Dean Day, who was wanted on suspicion of several shoplifting offences at Co-op stores in Royston, Mapplewell and Athersley.

35-year-old Day, from Darfield, was arrested in Royston and later charged with eight shoplifting offences and one attempted shoplifting offence.

He has been remanded to appear at court in the morning.
