ELEVEN drivers were arrested across the county overnight for drink and drug driving.
A South Yorkshire Police Operational Support spokesperson said: “Unfortunately dealing with drink and drug drivers is daily business for officers across South Yorkshire.
“Taking action against drivers who selfishly get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol or drugs happens day and night as our efforts to reduce casualties and fatalities on our roads continue.”
Since 5pm yesterday (July 14) 11 drivers were stopped and arrested for various drink and drug driving offences.
Seven drivers failed roadside breath tests and were arrested for driving while over the legal limit for alcohol.
Two drivers were arrested for failing to provide an evidential breath sample in custody after failing to provide breath at the roadside.
One driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the prescribed limit of drugs.
One driver was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a vehicle.
“Drink and drug driving kills. It is not worth the risk,” the spokesperson added.
