BARNSLEY Youth Choir has donated £1,700 to a local church following a sold-out concert last month.
The world-renowned choir, led by Mat Wright, performed at St Mary’s Church in the town centre in their final unplugged charity concert of last year - raising ‘important funds’ for the church’s work in the community to support the most vulnerable residents across the town.
A total of £1,700 was raised on the night - and the choir thanked those who supported the charity event.
A spokesperson for the choir said: “The choir sang at a really high level and 20 pieces, the majority of which were a cappella, contained some really challenging but exciting repertoire that audience members enjoyed.
“This concert began four years ago as a one-off charity concert, but the feedback has been so positive that we have programmed this every year since.
“Indeed, we welcomed audience members from across England with some travelling considerable distances to attend.
“Thank you to audience members for their support and generosity.”
