A COMMUNITY association’s members are celebrating after scooping a five-figure sum from the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Station House, in Thurnscoe, received £20,000 to help with general running costs as bills continue to rise due to the cost-of-living crisis.

The centre currently has 30 local youngsters who attend its play group and 60 children attending their after-school club.

Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healey said: “The work that Station House does to help support local families in Thurnscoe and the surrounding area is second to none.

“Like all charities and voluntary organisations the cost-of-living crisis has impacted on energy bills and day to day running costs.

“The funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery has meant that Station House hasn’t had to pass rising costs on to parents in the area.”

John has now held three virtual fundraising workshops with the People’s Postcode Lottery for local charities, volunteer organisations, and community groups with £109,000 being handed out across his constituency.

Station House’s chief executive, Charlotte Williams, added: “Our mission is to provide the best care for the children within our community and to extend our support through projects that provide a better family life.

“It’s thanks to this funding that we’ve been able to keep our prices down for families in the area who, like us, are experiencing rising costs to their day-to-day living.

“The funding is really welcome and the best part is that it’s a quick process.”
