A NEW trail has been created at Thurgoland Primary School to help keep pupils fit and healthy.

Former Barnsley footballer Bruce Dyer joined teachers at the school for the official ribbon cutting ceremony recently.

It’s hoped the new ‘trim trail’ will encourage the children to remain active.

Headteacher Dale Jordan said: “The children were thrilled to open the amazing, new trim trail in our school grounds.

“The fantastic, outdoor equipment is a fantastic addition to our school.

“The beautiful, wooden trail will encourage the children to be more active and develop their skills in many different areas.

“For the ribbon cutting ceremony I was joined by Bruce Dyer, Lorraine Mackie, members of the parents’ fundraising team and Huw Thomas, Diocesan director of education.

“I would like to thank the fundraising team, the Tesco Community Grant Scheme and our school community who helped funded this wonderful project.

“Our pupils are thoroughly enjoying using the equipment and are very appreciative of this wonderful addition to our school.”
