A CUDWORTH care home resident who has lived through 20 different Prime Ministers and World War Two said the secret to a long life is being kind to others.

Eva Padgett was born in Ackworth on September 6, 1922 and celebrated her 101st birthday at Belle Green Care Home in Cudworth on Wednesday.

Described as a lovely, thoughtful and sensitive woman, Eva said:: “The days just keep on coming and you have to keep on going.

“I always try to look after myself and be kind.

“I’m not bothered about drinking whisky, just cups of tea.

“I enjoy the simple pleasures in life.”
