A FORMER Barnsley College student has returned to teach on the same course she studied a decade ago.

Jessica Crossland spent seven years working as a TUI travel advisor before joining Virgin Atlantic’s cabin crew.

Now she wants to give back to the place her career started, by teaching the next generation of travel and tourism experts.

Jessica is currently completing her level six professional graduate certificate in education (PGCE) at Barnsley College, where she is learning to plan and assess learning, the role of theory and the use of evidence informed practice and exploring contemporary issues in post compulsory education.

She said: “The travel and tourism course was the catalyst for my career.

“The college gave me my first steps into the industry where I gained knowledge and understanding around the profession and this inspired me to pursue this further when I left as I progressed to higher education in travel and tourism management.

“The course left me with positive lasting memories and gave me a passion for inspiring the younger generation.

“I recommend the college as it gave me the framework and confidence to succeed in the travel and tourism industry and the key skills in preparation to apply for TUI and Virgin Atlantic.”
