THE daughter of a man who lives in a care home is asking for help in ‘sprucing’ up the garden area for the residents at the home, ahead of the summer.
Karren Laughton, 57, from Dodworth, said that Rosehill House Care Home, on Keresforth Road, is currently undergoing a refurbishment and there isn’t enough money spare to tidy up the garden area.
“There isn’t enough money to spruce up the tired, drab garden for the ladies and gents to sit and enjoy in the summer,” Karren said.
“It needs things like the fence painting, weeding, any old benches that folk no longer use.
“Me and my mum are willing to buy pots and plants so they can do bits of light gardening themselves.
“It just needs a bit of colour and tidying up so they have a place just to sit and enjoy the sunshine.
“I approached probation in Barnsley who said of course the people who get community hours could help, but it fell through due to it being a private home and not council run.”
