A GROUP of Barnsley people will be tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in June to raise funds for a cancer charity.
Michael Senior, 57, and Robert Snodgrass, 55, both from Mapplewell, are hoping to raise £600 for Macmillan after losing their parents to a cancer battle last year.
Michael said: “Last year both Rob and I lost one of our parents each to cancer.
“Rob’s dad, George Snodgrass, sadly passed away on April 8 and my mum, Patricia Senior, died on October 7.
“Although they have left a big hole in our lives, we know they would want us to live life to the full and carry on as normal as possible – so that’s what we are going to do.
“During both their battles with cancer, the local Macmillan nurses were nothing short of amazing, so we decided to do this challenge both in George and Pat’s memory, but also to raise valuable funds for a wonderful cancer support charity.
“Every single penny adds up so if anyone could spare something, no matter how small, rest assured it will be given to a fantastic cause.”
Michael’s daughters, Anna and Leah, and Robert’s son, Ryan, will also be taking part in the 23-mile challenge on Sunday, June 25.
