TWO Barnsley players visited Barnsley Hospital to promote programmes for men’s mental health.

Josh Benson and James Norwood spoke to patients at the hospital last month, promoting meetings at Oakwell.

A spokesperson for Reds in the Community, Barnsley FC’s charity, said: “The event was organised for back in September but was rearranged due to the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

“Based in the hospital restaurant we met with both staff and patients to discuss the importance of looking after our mental health.

“We also made a visit to the hospital’s extremely busy A and E department to speak with staff about their mental health and the free sessions such as Team Talk and Healthy Minds which could help or at least give them an opportunity to have a chat with our staff members.”

More information on the sessions can be found on the charity’s website.
