THE equivalent of more than 10,000 meals were donated by generous Barnsley residents at a local foodbank’s recent collection.
Barnsley Foodbank Partnership teamed up once again with Tesco for their summer collection.
They worked alongside stores in Hoyland, Penistone and Stairfoot with residents donating food for the cause.
More than 10,000 meals were donated - 4,857 at Tesco Stairfoot, 4,033 at Tesco Penistone and 2,285 at Tesco Hoyland.
A spokesperson added: “We just want to say a huge thank you to the volunteers that helped us during the collection.
“These dedicated individuals travelled from far and wide to help out during our collection, some of them even donating more than one day of their own time.
“Also, a big thanks to our community champions for their hard work and to our brilliant volunteer drivers for collecting the donations.”
