SOUTH Yorkshire Police is asking members of the public to get involved in a new scrutiny panel.
The panel will help improve and shape the police’s Use of Force powers - and residents will look through examples of incidents and discuss why and how those powers were used.
A police spokesperson said: “While we always look to utilise other operational means where we can, Use of Force remains an important tactic for our officers when dealing with more difficult suspects.
“Two awareness days are being set up to take those interested through what to expect as a member of the panel and how they will be involved.
“These are provisionally set for April 14 and 15, with exact times yet to be finalised.
“To find out more and be considered for one of the awareness days, email Inspector Louise Lambert with your contact details at louise.lambert@southyorks.pnn.police.uk.”
