A DOG was rescued from a burning flat in Hoyland last week and subsequently given oxygen.
Three fire crews were called out to the flat on Kirk View, at 8pm, on Friday.
When they arrived on scene they rescued the dog, which was given oxygen by the crew.
The fire is believed to have been started accidentally at the hob.
The crew came away at 9.30pm.
Throughout the week there were nine fires reported on the service’s website - seven of which were started deliberately.
Five of those blazes involved vehicles, and two were on the same street within minutes of each other.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, firefighters from Barnsley station were called to a deliberate car fire on Monkspring in Worsbrough Dale.
Just 20 minutes later, at 3.45am, the crew were then called to a deliberate car fire in a car park on the same street.
They came away from both incidents at 5am.
