A SOCIAL club has, as its final gesture before disbanding, presented a cheque for £2,700 to a ‘life-saving’ charity.
The amount sees the total raised by Royston and Carlton Line Dancers over its many years come to £14,207.67 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
“On behalf of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance I would like to say massive thank you to Barbara and her friends,” said volunteer Stephen Croft.
“It costs £12,000 per day to keep both helicopters flying and as an independent charity we rely on donations like this to help save lives seven days a week, 365 days a year.
“The donation will help to provide life-saving rapid emergency response to the five million across Yorkshire, delivering specialist treatment on-scene or fly patients to one of the regions major trauma centres in the quickest possible time.
“Like many charities we have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic and it is donations like this that have kept the service running and enabled us to provide urgent medical care to those who need it.”
