A GRIMETHORPE care home is appealing for volunteers to help bring the seaside to their residents.

Staff at Mapleton Court, on Stacey Crescent, hope to create a seaside-themed garden at the home to help cheer up their residents – who haven't been able to get out and about during the past year.

A team of gardeners are already working to make the garden a reality, but the home hopes that green-fingered volunteers can help bring the garden to life.

“We are looking for people to help do some planting and varnish the decking,” said Jo Barley, area manager of the Mapleton Care Group.

“We just hope the community can come together to help cheer our residents up because it's been a very difficult year for them.

“We are also hoping to refurbish a caravan which we would need help with. Any help we can get would be appreciated because it's getting towards summer and we would love our residents to be able to enjoy the weather while it lasts.”

If you would like to volunteer, phone the home on 891400.
