A GRANT which could help Barnsley businesses that were forced to close due to the pandemic has been revealed by council bosses.

The local restrictions grant can help businesses that have been open as usual before the restrictions, registered for business rates at the premises on October 23, providing services in-person from the premises and required to close due to the new lockdown.

The amount you get depends on the rateable value of the property - for premises £15,000 and under they will receive a one-off payment of £4,000, £6,000 will be given to premises worth £15,001 to £50,999 and £9,000 to anything above that.

All payments will be made automatically to those who have already received a local restrictions grant.

An application process will be available for businesses that registered for business rates since October 23 as soon as guidance is released by central government.
