RESIDENTS in Darfield have been evacuated after a suspected grenade was found.
At around 3.20pm today, officers were called to a property on Cliff Road where the property was cordoned off.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Our officers are currently dealing with reports of a suspected grenade at an address in Cliff Road in Darfield.
“Officers were called at 3.20pm and a police cordon is in place to ensure public safety, while officers investigate and secure the area.
“Residents within the cordon area have been asked to evacuate their homes as a precautionary measure.
"The road is currently closed and motorists are asked to avoid the area."
