A COMMUNITY health clinic has partnered with Barnsley Council to help provide resources to encourage people to speak about sexual health with their children.

The partnership is in aid of Sexual Health Week which takes place this week (September 14 – 18).

Sexual Health Week takes place across the country and encourages people to speak about their sexual health, and works towards making sexual health inclusive.

This year's campaign focuses on relationships and sex education and the council has partnered with community health clinic, Spectrum, to provide resources for teachers, parents and young people to engage with the topic.

A spokesperson for Spectrum said: “We believe passionately that everyone has the right to learn about Relationships, and Sex Education (RSE) in a safe and supportive environment, where they feel able to ask questions and seek guidance.

“In 2019-20, our RSE facilitators delivered more than 2,000 face-to-face lessons to approximately 57,000 young people across Wakefield, Barnsley, Wigan and Leigh.”
