DAMAGE caused at the aqueduct at Dearne Valley Park over the weekend has sparked further enquiries by police.

On Saturday, the Barnsley Central Neighbourhood Policing Team posted an appeal on its page and highlighted the vandalism done at the weekend.

A spokesperson for the team has criticised the damage done to the historical site.

“After further reports of antisocial behaviour at the Dearne Valley Park we are disappointed to find further damage at the former Great Aqueduct.

“I wonder if the person or persons responsible for this damage has any idea what a historically significant site they have vandalised.

“Patrols will continue and enquiries are ongoing.”
