A SUPERMARKET has teamed up with a local volunteer to donate essentials to people in need across the borough.

Jack’s Supermarket, on Wombwell Lane, has been working with postman Gavin Frost, 27, to deliver food parcels during the lockdown.

Gavin, of Swanee Road, Kendray, has spent several weeks collecting donations and now works alongside the supermarket to deliver the donations dropped off at the store.

Daniel Saragea, store manager at Jack’s Barnsley, said: “After hearing about Gavin’s selfless efforts we knew we wanted to help in any way possible.

“We’re very happy to be able to help Gavin and ultimately the whole community.”

Jack’s is highly involved with charity work in Barnsley, currently offering £500 grants to charities and organisations who have helped with the coronavirus relief efforts, as well as collecting donations at the front of the store for FareShare.
