STAFF from two care homes have thanked the people of Barnsley for their ‘amazing’ contribution to a collection for the homeless.

A joint project between Thornhill House in Darfield and Highstone Mews, Worsbrough, the collection garnered dozens of donations of food, household items and money.

Staff from the homes, operated by Strong Life Care, dropped the donations off at Action for Barnsley Homeless on Tuesday.

“From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank the community of Darfield, Worsborough and surrounding areas for all of the donations that they have made in either the form of items or money,” said Sophie King, senior carer at Thornhill House.

“We would also like to thank the staff at Balfour Beatty at Thornscoe and Superdrug Distribution Centre at South Elmsall for the donations that they have made.

“We are amazed at the astonishing amount of donations that we have received and will be forever thankful for the kindness of the community.”
