A NEW traffic package for Cundy Cross has been approved to improve traffic flow at the junction.
Cundy Cross roundabout was removed by Barnsley Council and replaced with traffic lights earlier this year.
Working is currently ongoing to create a new access road for a housing development on the site of the old Priory School, which will effectively form a new gyratory for traffic in the area.
As the area is so busy, Barnsley Council is introducing new regulations for traffic to govern waiting on the approaches to the junction to keep traffic flowing.
It is hoped traffic flow will improve further when the new access road is completed and opened, with the traffic control measures intended to help keep the flow moving as quickly and smoothly as possible.
