BARNSLEY is being urged to get colourful and creative and trim up for the arrival of the Tour de Yorkshire this Friday May 4.

With Barnsley being a host town, riders will be making their way through the borough past iconic landmarks and through some of our historic villages.

As part of the celebrations, residents, local businesses and schools along and near to the race route are being asked to go all out and trim up to show off our fantastic town.

Barnsley council are encourging you to bunt up and show the world what we’re all about. Whether it’s blue and yellow bunting, flags, banners or posters, we want to claim the crown of best dressed town in the Tour de Yorkshire 2018.

Matthew Gladstone, Executive Director for Place, said: “We’ve had the race come through our borough on a couple of occasions and everybody has really gone all out on decorations and it’s paid off.

Penistone last year stood out on the route for its creativity and colour. As hosts for this year’s event, we’d love for Barnsley to be seen as the best-dressed town on the tour, but we need your help.”
