PLANNING ROUND-UP: Plans to convert a former Wombwell corner shop into a new restaurant have been approved by the council.

The former unit on High Street – which closed over a year ago – will be turned into a hot food venue. A new kitchen will be installed including a cooker, fryer and grill. Plans were originally submitted in March before being given the green light last week.

PLANS to change the use of half of a garage in Barugh Green so it can be used as a nail and beauty salon have been approved by the council. An application was submitted to Barnsley Council’s planning board in October. These plans were given the green light earlier this month.

PLANNING permission has been granted to erect a new property in Thurgoland. Plans were originally submitted in May last year for the property to be built on Cote Lane. The application was approved by Barnsley Council’s planning board last week.

If approved, the building will be built on Elmhirst Lane. Three neighbouring properties have been made aware of the application with no appeals to date. Public consultation ends on May 28.

PLANS to build two custom-built properties in Wombwell have been submitted to Barnsley Council. If approved, the new properties will be added to Ings Road. A total of 26 neighbouring properties have been made aware of the application with no appeals to date. A target decision date has been set for June 17.

PLANS to install an 11-metre-high wooden pole in Hoyland have been approved. An application was submitted to erect the pole on Upper Woodhead Farm, on Woodhead Lane, in February. These plans were given the green light by Barnsley Council’s planning board earlier this month.

PLANS to make a number of changes to a Lundwood property – including adding a balcony – have been approved by the council. The plans were originally submitted to the council in August before being approved earlier this month. The work on the Lund Lane property includes a balcony, garage conversion and a rear extension.

PLANS to demolish a number of outbuildings and replace them with a new property in Bolton-upon-Dearne have been approved by the council. An application was originally submitted for the work to take place on Carr Head Lane in July. These plans were given the green light by Barnsley Council’s planning board earlier this month.
