A ROYSTON man is setting off on his thirteenth motorbike trip from Royston to Land’s End and then onto John O’Groats.

It’s a trek of almost 3,000 miles and Bob Woodcock will be raising money for The Salvation Army.

Seventy-year-old Bob first completed the ride in 2011 – and he’s done it every year since.

He’s raised around £16,000 for charity in that time – and he’s hoping to add to that figure when he sets off on his journey with friend Melvyn Thomas tomorrow.

Bob said: “This will be the 13th time I’ve done the ride and this time I’m raising money for The Salvation Army. We’re going to be going from Royston to Land’s End up to John O’Groats and back – it’s about 2,800 miles.

“I’m always ready for it and I’m excited – we’re hoping to raise at least £1,000. We raised £1,400 last year so it’s about £16,000 in total. It’s nice that I’m able to still do it.

“It’s good that I’m able to put something back into the community.”
