A BARNSLEY folk-rock band are set to release their third single ahead of a festival-filled summer.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Daniel Watson from Cawthorne, Lizzie Morris, Evie Smith and Chris Reed make up Common Culture who will release their latest single ‘Taking Hold’ on Wednesday.
Dan was a member of The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican from 2014 until last year, but he has left the band to become the frontman of Common Culture.
The band released their debut single ‘The Travelling Life’ on New Year’s Day.
The song quickly captured the attention of audiences, amassing nearly 4,000 views on Facebook within its first day.
It was swiftly followed up in February by ‘What The World Could Be’ and a packed out home town debut show in Barnsley.
‘Taking Hold’ explores ‘internal struggles, resilience and defying the odds’, according to Dan.
He said: “Taking Hold is a raw and honest look at the fear that can hold us back.
“It’s about the struggle to confront your demons and take control of your life, even when it feels like it’s too late.”
The band are rapidly making waves across the indie rock and folk scenes and will be playing slots at big UK festivals this summer, including Bearded Theory and Holmfirth Folk Festival.
Their music can be found on Spotify and YouTube, and more information on the band can be found on social media.
