Top players head for Barnsley

WORLD-renowned table tennis players will be visiting Barnsley next weekend to teach local youngsters.

Over the course of the weekend, Barnsley Table Tennis Club will be welcoming Swedish head coach Christian Björklund and Mark Mitchell from premier club St Neots in Cambridge to lead coaching sessions at Hope House Church on Blucher Street.

Both players have had experience at the highest levels of competition, with Mark representing England 55 times while Christian has achieved the highest level of Swedish qualifications.

Organiser Joe Race said: “We’re really looking forward to it.

“It’s a great opportunity and the first time we’ve done something like this as a club. There aren’t many chances to learn from people from all over the world.”
