A MONK Bretton woman is aiming to hit new fundraising heights when she takes to the sky later this year to raise money for a local care home.
Rachael Addy, 39, is the activities co-ordinator at Deangate Care Home in Mapplewell and has always tried to raise funds in novel ways for the site.
But she’s taking it to the next level on June 21 as she’ll be jumping out of a plane at Langar Airfield in Nottingham.
She said: “I wanted to raise money for our residents, as I feel everyone raises money for specific charities and care homes get overlooked.
“Last year our summer fair raised £1,000 just by throwing cream pies.
“This money enabled us to go to the seaside twice, something that had not been possible since before Covid. We also had a trip to the panto at Christmas, as well as having numerous singers and groups come to perform at Deangate.
“Without any of these important donations we could not do this magical activities. So I thought why not do something even bigger and better, and what’s bigger and better than this? But never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be doing this.”
Rachael is hoping she’ll be able to raise £2,000 for the care home.
