BIRDWELL Playgroup is celebrating after receiving the first outstanding Ofsted grade in its 30-year history.
The pre-school on Sheffield Road has finally received the coveted grade, following an inspection in December.
Ofsted congratulated the school’s involved staff, and positive culture. The report said: “Children are confident and eager to talk and staff ask questions to develop kids’ thoughts.
“Parents sing the praises of staff and the playgroup – they are really happy and fully involved with their child’s development.”
Nursery manager, Jessica Corson, said: “When we found out we were chuffed. We’ve been open for over 30 years and this is our first outstanding grade.
“It proves the quality of child care here – we have an exciting learning environment with staff that work hard. Our parents have said it’s well deserved and are very proud of our achievement.”
