POLICE are appealing for information following alleged assaults, antisocial behaviour and other criminal behaviour in Barnsley Interchange this week.

Officers are investigating reports of the alleged offences by a group of young people on Thursday evening.

A police spokesman said: “We understand the impact this type of behaviour has on people who work in and commute through the Interchange, as well as those who live and work nearby.

“South Yorkshire Police and our partners in Barnsley Council are working in conjunction with SYMCA and the agencies responsible for Barnsley Transport Interchange to investigate these matters.”

If you were in Barnsley Interchange on Thursday evening and witnessed any criminal behaviour take place, you are asked to report this by calling 101 or getting in touch via the online portal: www.southyorks.police.uk/contact-us/report-something/.

“Our goal as a partnership is to build upon the investment already made to Barnsley town centre and create a safe and welcoming environment that can be enjoyed by everyone.

“Incidents such as the one reported to us on Thursday night are as concerning to us as they are to our communities. We will work diligently to identify those responsible and continue to make Barnsley a safer place to live and work.”
