SOME of Barnsley’s most famous faces have joined together to try and raise funds for homeless charities over the winter period.

As part of Barnsley Rucksack Project’s 2023 winter campaign, Adie Flute is running the charity’s first Christmas charity auction.

Funds will be split between a number of important homeless charities, including the BCDP Drop-In, Action for Barnsley Homeless, and Help 4 Homeless Veterans.

Olympic gold-medalist Ed Clancy, Ian McMillan, Kate Rusby and singer Izzy Watson have all got involved.

Adie said: “Each of these charities is absolutely vital in supporting those worst off in society and each has numerous harrowing cases where they have quite literally prevented loss of life, as well as incredible stories where they have helped turn lives around.

”We have received many wonderful items which can now be bid on, with highlights including a signed Team GB shirt from three-time Olympic gold medallist Ed Clancy OBE, the chance to have a poem written just for you by former Three Cities Poet Laureate and Bard of Barnsley, Ian McMillan, a host of prints, painting and sculptures from a number of artists, two guest list tickets/passes for a spring 2024 Kate Rusby concert of your choosing, and an art poster for the classic Yorkshire film Kes, signed by director Ken Loach.”

The auction will run until 7.30pm tonight.
