A LOCAL cricket team’s members are celebrating after a four-year, six-figure redevelopment programme reached its end.

Notton Cricket Club received £350,000 and its George Lane site has been transformed as a result.

The club now want to recruit more players for next year’s season as a result, members confirmed this week.

An official launch of the new facilities – at Notton Village Hall – will take place on November 25 at 7.30pm, with performances from Terry Webster and the Webstars.

Spokesperson John Taylor said: “Following on from our ground redevelopment programme which cost £350,000 over the last four years, we now have a ground to be proud of.

“We are recruiting for additional players to our senior team for the 2024 season.

“If you are interested in a change of club or wish to dig out the whites again after a while not playing, please contact the club on Notton Cricket Club’s Facebook page.

“Terry is a rock and roll legend from these parts – he was the front man with The Rockin’ Berries and bass guitarist with Jet Harris’ band The Jetblacks.

“The Beatles were once his support act at The Cavern Club in Liverpool so it’ll be a great night.”
