THE latest Barnsley in Bloom winners have been announced – and it’s good news for 16 different organisations.
The Yorkshire in Bloom judges gave more than a dozen Barnsley institutes the awards this year – after assessing several of the town’s green spaces, squares and gardens.
Areas such as Birkwood Primary School, Royston Canal Club and Owd Martha’s Yard all picked up the top gongs.
Coun James Higginbottom, cabinet spokesperson for environment and highways, said: “Once again we’ve had another fantastic result in the Yorkshire in Bloom Awards.
“We are immensely proud and fortunate to have so many talented volunteers across Barnsley who work hard all year round to keep our borough looking clean and green.
“I would like to say a huge congratulations to everyone who took part and to all those who received an award.
“These awards are a real testament to the hard work and dedication that is put in by our parks team, volunteers and community groups.”
