THE mayor and mayoress attended a special centennial birthday party.
Lily Goodall celebrated her 100th birthday on September 16 at Chapel View Care Home with her friends and family.
The day was only made better with the arrival of Mayor Mick Stowe and his wife Elaine, who gave Lily a bouquet of flowers and birthday card with a picture of the town hall.
Lily’s daughter Lorraine Copley said: “She was delighted that the mayor and mayoress came to visit her.
“They stayed for a while and chatted with everyone.”
Lily was the second-oldest of ten siblings and despite her age still gets up and about.
Lorraine added: “Mum is such a caring person.
“She still walks with a Zimmer frame – people have said a few times that she doesn’t look 100.
“She had a lovely day, it was fabulous.”
