HARD-WORKING volunteers from Barnsley Museums were celebrated at a special event on Wednesday.

Launched by Mayor of Barnsley Coun Mick Stowe, the event at Worsbrough Mill celebrated those who have worked tirelessly at Barnsley Museums’ five heritage sites.

Artist Louise Wright helped volunteers and visitors on the day create a visual representation of volunteering through print and textiles, representing what it means to them.

Those in attendance were able to explore the mill with samples of bread on offer - as well as trail leaflets available for locals to collect.

Coun Robin Franklin, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said: “Our volunteers have given so much of their time and energy to supporting Barnsley Museums, and we would like to take his opportunity to thank them and recognise the important work that they do.

“It’s brilliant that people are contributing to their communities in this way while learning new skills, meeting new people, and helping to safeguard the future of Barnsley’s heritage.”
