A BARNSLEY man ran ten kilometres in one hour last weekend in honour of his friend who died after an ongoing cancer battle.

Connor Jones, 21, of Old Mill Lane, decided to take part in the Race For Life at Graves Park in Sheffield last Sunday, as a challenge in memory of Brandon Hackett who lost his life to Ewing Sarcoma a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer aged just 20.

He said he’d known Brandon for years and wanted to do something to make him proud.

“I’ve never really been much of a runner so I thought it would be a good challenge,” said Connor.

“I finished the race in one hour and four seconds in 25 degree heat and sang all way round.

“Overall I raised close to £500.”
